Having recently spent a week with Haney at a PGA coaching summit on the Sunshine Coast, Paradise Palms Country Club's director of golf, Des Shearer, said the Far North's aspiring golfers could look forward to improving their performance with the arrival of Dartfish.
Dartfish is a sports video analysis program that is used by golfers as well as sports such as skiing, show jumping, football and swimming. In Australia, it has been taken on board by coaches from the Australian swimming team and Tennis Australia.
"Having heard and seen what this program can do for sportspeople, particularly golfers, it was not a matter of whether, but when. I am delighted to announce Paradise Palms as the first and only club in the
region to adopt this powerful coaching tool," Shearer said "The benefit to our clients will be rapid improvement through instant visual feedback. What it allows us to do is easily integrate video without interrupting the pace of the session to give golfers a real understanding of the corrections and adjustments they need to make."
Haneys said the video analysis program had been partly responsible for changing Tiger Woods' swing in the past two or three years.
"This program is able to highlight swing techniques by selecting key positions on the video. What we can then do is easily compare two different swings, assess movements in detail and use drawing and measurement tools. From there we can create multimedia presentations of the analysis with written and audio comments," Shearer said.
TIGER Woods' head coach Hank Haney believes video analysis will revolutionise sport and the way it is taught.
